Lee High School, a high school located in Wyoming, Michigan, will be sponsoring a charity auction, sports card and memorabilia show, and an autograph session later this month.  All proceeds will go towards Stubby Overmire Field.

• Bob Feller Autograph Signing ($20) - Thursday, February 19, 2009 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
• Denny McLain Autograph Signing ($5) – Thursday, February 21, 2009 from 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM
• For $15.00, McLain will be signing special limited items with “I served up Mickey Mantle’s 535th Home Run”
• Chad Curtis Autograph Signing ($5) - Thursday, February 21, 2009 from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
• John Vanderwal Autograph Signing – price and time to be determined
• Auction - Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 6:30 PM
• Sports Card and Memorabilia Show (free admission and free raffles)- Saturday, February 21, 2009 from 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

If you are anywhere near the area, I would highly recommend you at least attend the Bob Feller and Denny McLain’s autograph signings.  20.00 for an autograph of a HOFer (and 2nd oldest living HOFer) is ridiculously low.  You will not be able to obtain Bob Feller’s autograph any lower than $20.  The cheapest I’ve seen, ever, is $25 and the price only goes up from there depending on the show and location.  As for the other 3 players, it’ll actually be more expensive getting one of the more popular baseball items to get signed so trading cards is probably the best way to go, which there will be plenty of at the show.  Here’s a real quick price guide on recommended items:

Curtis and Vanderwal – go with trading cards as the baseballs will be worth more than the autograph itself.  Don’t pay more than $0.25 per player/card.  Realistically, it should only cost $0.05-$0.10, but dealers at shows tend to increase their price when they know who’s signing at the show.
McLain - go with a 8×10 photo or an official MLB baseball.   The latter is recommended as McLain’s autograph for $5 is an extremely good deal.  McLain was the last 30 game winner, was an AL MVP award winner, and also a 2 time Cy Young award winner (1968 and 1969).
