Chicago Blackhawks Fans Want Detroit Red Wings In Conference Finals Not Anaheim Ducks
By now, everyone has heard about Patrick Kane’s 1st career hat trick in the most important game of his career. Kane’s clutch performance sent the Chicago Blackhawks into the conference finals for the 1st time since 1995, when the Blackhawks lost to the Detroit Red Wings in 5 games.
After listening to numerous Chicago Blackhawks fans and listening to a multitude of Chicago radio stations (both sports and music stations), it seems like the consensus of Blackhawks fans is this: “We want the Detroit Red Wings” and not the Anaheim Ducks in the conference finals. As one can imagine, this is certainly a pride thing. The question is, would you rather have a much easier road to the finals by facing the Anaheim Ducks or do you want to risk facing the most celebrated team in hockey history in the Detroit Red Wings? Not that the regular season matters much, but if we are not mistaken, the Chicago Blackhawks are 2-2-2 (2-4 if you want to count the shootout against the Hawks) against the Red Wings during the regular season, while the Blackhawks are 3-1 against the Ducks. Sure you want to beat your hated rivals and avenge the conference finals loss in 1995, but at some point, the pride needs to go away and reality needs to sink in.
